2019 Annual Motown Mic Spoken Word Contest at Motown Museum Detroit, MI

Attention Poets!
For 2019, every Friday in March, the Motown Museum has a spoken word contest called "Motown Mic". Poets compete for  the highest points and are judged  by 4 judges. 8:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m.
Winners advanced to the Grand Finale for a grand prize  of $1000.00 and publication on a broadside by Detroit's Broadside Lotus Press! The contest is in its sixth year and I have been happy to serve as one of the judges!

The Motown Museum is located on West Grand Boulevard in Detroit. The site is east of Rosa Parks Boulevard and west of Woodward and the John C. Lodge Expressway (M-10).

Writing Workshop from 3 - 4:30. 
Bring your work in progress to read and get feedback. 
Open Mic from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Bring a poem by a favorite female poet for Women's History Month to share. 
Poetry writing prompts will be provided.
Free and open to the public

Enter at the McNichols entrance. Take the road that leads to the Livernois side of the campus, the Student Union will be on your right.

2019 Broadside Lotus Press Poets' Theater Schedule

The Broadside Lotus Press Poets' Theater will resume on the 3rd Sunday of February 2019.
Due to the bitter cold today, the session was canceled. We will continue to have poetry and writing workshops, sharing of work in progress for feedback, and reading of participant's work.
